Can You See What Really Matters in a Garment?

Asiatic Fiber Corporation (AFC) joins the 2026 Taiwan Design Expo, showcasing recycled materials, cleanroom garments, and functional medical textiles to explore new possibilities for fibers across design, technology, and everyday life.

The 2026 Taiwan Design Expo arrives in Taoyuan, bringing design into new contexts—from cities and industries to everyday life.

At AFC, design does not always begin with a finished product.

Sometimes, it begins with a single fiber, a thread, or even a piece of material that was once destined to be discarded.

At this year’s Taiwan Design Expo, AFC goes beyond simply displaying textile products. From materials and fibers to functional applications, the exhibition reveals how textile technology quietly becomes part of the world around us.

What You See Is a Garment. What You Don’t See Is Textile Technology.

A cleanroom garment may look like just another piece of workwear.

But in highly controlled environments such as semiconductor and optoelectronics manufacturing, particle generation, cleanliness, anti-static performance, and wearer comfort can all affect the working environment and manufacturing process.

The cleanroom garment showcased by AFC has undergone international standard testing, achieving an air permeability of 5.0 cc/cm²/sec and particle generation as low as 250.4 count/ft³.

What you see is a garment. What you don’t see is the technology engineered into its fibers and fabric.

The same applies to medical apparel—it is more than simply something worn by healthcare professionals.

In medical environments, protection, anti-static performance, cleanliness, and comfort need to work together. Textile technology becomes an invisible partner, quietly supporting people throughout their work.

When Fibers Can Carry a Signal

What if a thread could do more than hold fabric together—and could also carry electrical current and signals?

AFC’s conductive sewing thread combines conductive fibers with polyester fibers, transforming an ordinary thread from a structural component into a pathway for electrical current and signal transmission.

Sewn directly into textiles, it opens possibilities for anti-static applications, sensing, smart wearables, and e-textiles.

When fibers can carry information, clothing becomes more than clothing.

A seemingly simple thread can become the connection between textiles and electronics.

Giving Textile Waste a New Beginning

Design is about innovation, but it is also about rethinking the lifecycle of materials.

Another part of AFC’s exhibition begins with recycled PET bottles and textile scraps. Through recycling and regeneration, these materials are transformed into recycled pellets and yarns, and ultimately into recycled cleanroom garments and cleanroom wipers.

Materials once considered production waste can be transformed into useful resources again.

This is more than recycling. It is about giving discarded materials a new beginning.

When circularity is considered from the material stage—not simply at the end of a product’s life—textile technology opens up another range of possibilities.

From Textile Expertise to New Possibilities in Everyday Life

From cleanroom and medical applications to smart wearables, e-textiles, and circular materials, fibers are entering an increasingly diverse range of applications.

This is what AFC hopes to show at the Taiwan Design Expo:

Design does not always begin with a finished product.

It can begin with a fiber, a thread, or even a material given a second life.

What you see is design.
What you don’t see is textile technology.
